I study points programs, such as frequent flyer and other rewards programs, as a revenue management tool. I develop a two‐period contracting model where a capacity‐constrained firm faces consumers who privately learn their valuations over time. The firm cannot commit to long‐term contracts, but it can commit to allocate any unsold capacity through a points program. This points scheme creates an endogenous and type‐dependent outside option for consumers, which generates novel incentives in the firm's pricing problem. It induces the firm to screen less ex interim, and to offer lower equilibrium prices, reversing the intuition of demand cannibalization.  相似文献

This paper studied the role of municipal quality of life as a driver of strategic tax interactions among local governments. A number of studies point out the existence of strategic interactions using spatial econometric models in which the spatial weights are mostly based on non-economic criteria or basic economic variables such as per capita gross domestic product (GDP). We propose the more sophisticated well-being indicator of municipal quality of life as the driver for these interactions. To deal with the potential endogeneity, we rely on instrumental variable estimators. The empirical analysis focuses on the main local tax in Spain (property) and on municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, and it confirms the relevance of differentials in quality of life for the understanding of tax choices.  相似文献

研究目的:厘清集体经营性建设用地流转模式,推进集体建设用地入市改革。研究方法:以产权让渡及市场化为视角,采用矩阵分类法划分集体经营性建设用地流转模式,剖析不同流转模式特征与演进路径。研究结果:基于本研究视角可将集体经营性建设用地流转划分为6种模式,不同模式具有不同特征、运行条件、优缺点及收益分配格局,且其存在关联并遵循一定的演进规律。研究结论:规范市场下农地发展权及使用权流转模式将是当前改革的方向,需从法律法规上明确农地发展权相关规定;不同地区需因地制宜地选择流转模式及类型,探索具体实施办法,循序渐进推进流转改革与创新。  相似文献

Based on passenger choice behavior, a dynamic pricing mechanism of ancillary services has been brought up for analysis in this paper. With the analysis of the passenger choice behavior of ancillary services, this study (1) analyzed the pricing of ancillary services from airlines' websites, (2) launched a survey to investigate passengers’ characteristics and preferences, (3) applied the binary logistic model to analyze passenger choice of ancillary services, and integrated into the dynamic pricing model of ancillary services. The optimal prices can be obtained at the maximum of the revenue. Based on the historical data of a Chinese domestic flight, the optimal prices of ancillary services for different types of passengers can be obtained at the maximum revenue of ancillary services, with a 74.4% increase of revenue. This paper not only created a general pricing model for improving the ancillary revenue but also provided theoretical support for ancillary pricing. The model with enough data can be dynamically applied to various flights and ancillary services.  相似文献

This article offers a bottom‐up contribution to the fixity–motion literature. It aims to unravel the apparent contradiction of real estate spatial fixity in Spain, which is portrayed both as a barrier to accumulation and as a unique source of investment by different capitalist actors. Empirically, it describes the shifts in real estate ownership and changes in profit‐making strategies that have taken place across the real estate sector during the crisis years, and the role of the state in these shifts. The article asserts that the idea of spatial fixity representing a spatial barrier for accumulation does not necessarily apply in the Spanish case. It further claims that the tensions in capital circulation through real estate are not only to be found in the action of time, but in different state strategies pursued by various actors. The opposing representations of fixity are the result of state regulation of interest rates, taxation and risk weighting. The state also increasingly promotes land rents as a source of liquidity creation.  相似文献

This research uses a big dataset of online prices published on Booking.com by three-, four- and five-star hotels located in Madrid (Spain). Data is broadened by other sources, resulting in a rich set of context-, hotel- and offer-based variables. This research aims to determine the impact of these variables on the online room prices set by one representative sample, featuring the total pricing behaviour as well as per hotel categories. The variables considered, their extent and the insight per category represent a novelty and complement the literature on demand forecasting and hedonic pricing, enabling the improvement of optimisation techniques. The models, based on regression analysis with random effects, reveal a significant impact of the variables on room prices and a clearly distinct behaviour for five-star hotels. This research contributes to the scientific community and practitioners by showing the pricing dynamics behaviour of an important urban destination by star rating.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

For Africa to develop and achieve sustainable development, African governments have to prioritise spending on public health. However, the current spending data shows that health spending is a continuing struggle for African countries. Many researchers have the view that African governments have to collect more tax to spend enough on public healthcare. The question here is what extent people are willing to pay more tax to increase spending on public healthcare? Employing a multilevel regression model on Afrobarometer survey data, this paper examined to what extent individual and country level factors influence people’s willingness to pay more tax to increase spending on public healthcare in 12 Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states. This study found that peoples’ trust in their government is an important determinant of willingness to pay more tax, while factors such as the country’s quality of democracy, economic condition, and current per capita health expenditure have no influence.  相似文献

In 2015, Swiss voters had the opportunity to impose a tax on the super rich in a popular vote and thereby fund a redistributive policy. However, a large majority voted against its seemingly obvious self-interest and rejected the tax. We propose an explanation for this puzzling outcome, bridging the usually separate behavioralist and institutionalist perspectives on the politics of inequality. We start from the observation that political economy tends to neglect processes of preference formation. Theorising preferences as socially constructed, we show that interest groups played a major role in shaping the outcome of the vote. Business frames were multiplied through allied parties and the media and had a major impact on individual voting behaviour. In addition, we demonstrate that interest groups representing business interests derive the content of their communication from business’s structurally privileged position in the capitalist economy. Specifically, creating uncertainty about possible perverse effects of government policies on jobs and growth is a powerful tool to undermine popular support. Frames based on this structural power ultimately explain why the Swiss refrained from ‘soaking the rich.’  相似文献

Ticket pricing is a key issue for tourism research in China. Owing to regional differences, a unified nationwide price reduction strategy for tourist attractions would be inappropriate for China. To assist in regional ticket pricing decisions, this study uses ArcGIS spatial analysis methods to analyze the spatial differentiation of ticket prices and revenue levels between prefectural units, using 2017 data from 9450 A-grade tourist attractions. The results reveal prominent characteristics of spatial differentiation in tourist attractions’ average ticket prices, as well as in the proportion of their revenue from ticket sales, between prefectural units. Ticket prices are generally low in north China and high in south China; meanwhile, the proportion of ticket revenue is generally high in east China and low in west China. The factors influencing such spatial differentiation are tourism resources, local socio-economic conditions, and the management of tourist attractions. The findings help stakeholders to make differentiation strategy.  相似文献
